“I don’t go on Aldercar Rec anymore. It’s just become a dog toilet.” This is a feeling widely shared by many residents of Aldercar and Langley Mill according to recent consultation through the Connecting Communities: Aldercar and Langley Mill Project.
From listening to a lot of people so far, it is clear that there is not enough use being made of some of the community spaces. However, an event on Tuesday 23rd March at the Aldercar Community Language College, Daltons Close, Langley Mill aims to address this. The event will look at how to make the best of the ‘recs’ and other community spaces in Aldercar and Langley Mill and reclaim them for the benefit of the community.
This informal event starts at 7.00pm until 8.45pm. All members of the community are welcome and are encouraged to come along to have their say.
There is also the opportunity to discuss other issues concerning the community at a series of informal ‘Projects and Prospects’ events being run throughout March as part the Connecting Communities project:
Wednesday 10th March
10am, Langley Mill Children’s Centre, Bailey Brook Road
Tuesday 16th March
7pm – 9pm, Langley Mill Miners Welfare, 112 Station Road
Tuesday 23rd March
12.30pm, Inn the Middle, 125 Station Road, Langley Mill
“These events are designed to stimulate discussion, ideas and action – it’s about making something happen, rather than just talking about it,” stresses Joe Dugdale, Connecting Communities Project Officer.
