RRISP: Rural Retailers Intervertion and Support Programme

About RRISP

Rural services are the lifeblood of rural communities.  The Rural Retailers Intervention and Support Programme is aimed at helping rural communities threatened with the loss of village shops either through factors such as poor trading conditions, shop keepers retirement or affected by the Post Office closure programme (e.g. where a combined shop/Post Office is threatened by the loss of the Post Office service, where with public support (within State Aids limits), a viable business/service can be redeveloped and sustained.

The project will provide specialist support and a chance of grant funding for rural retailers within the Derby and Derbyshire Economic Partnership (DDEP) Sub-Region - High Peak, Derbyshire Dales, Amber Valley, Erewash and South Derbyshire.

This project is funded through emda’s single programme funding. Derby & Derbyshire Economic Partnership (DDEP) have commissioned a project to address issues and needs of rural retail services and have appointed Derbyshire Rural Community Council (DRCC) to co-ordinate and deliver the project, with East Midlands Business Ltd (EMB) providing the grant support and administration following the Business Transformation Grant process.

Part of the project delivery includes a website specifically for rural shopkeepers in Derbyshire, to provide them with news and information and a means of networking. Visit the Derbyshire Rural Retailer Website at www.derbyshireruralretailer.co.uk for the latest news, events and to sign up to the Shop Club.
